To cut to the chase – it’s a little pricey, but IMO you get what you pay for. The ingredient list is impressive with high-quality meats and no fillers like corn or soy, which Archie is sensitive to. Pus, having peace of mind knowing I’m feeding him something that’s not gonna mess up his stomach? Priceless.

Also appreciate their dedication to sustainability. And they have stellar customer service, sorted out an issue with delivery once in under 24 hours.

Only downside might be their limited range. Archie doesn’t get bored easily (bless him), but if your pup likes variety, this could be a turnoff.

So far, so good for us though! Hope this helps anyone on the fence 🙂

in reply to: Turning a New Leaf: Kirkland Dog Food Review #1932

You asked about Kirkland dog food, right? I’ve been feeding it to my Rottweiler, Bella, for about 4 years now. She seems to love the taste and I gotta admit, her coat looks healthier than ever.

I think they’re using pretty solid ingredients because there’s no wheat, soy or corn – which is always a plus in my books! And it doesn’t break the bank either; we’re talking quite reasonable price for such quality.

But just a heads up…Bella had a bit of gas when we first switched over. Dunno if it was the food or just something else (she’s known to snack on things she finds in the yard) but it settled down after a few weeks…probably her getting used to the new grub!

Just keep your eyes open and see how your fur baby reacts. Every pup is different, but all in all, I’m happy with Kirkland.
    Hope this helps!

But make sure you gradually introduce new food to your dog’s diet. A sudden switch can cause some tummy trouble. Been there, done that! Also, always keep an eye on how your dog reacts to the food, because every doggo is different. Good luck! 🐾

in reply to: Nutrisource Dog Food Review: My Personal Experience #2035

I’ve been using Nutrisource for my Lab, Max, for about 6 months now, and it’s been pretty good! The thing I like most about it is the variety of flavors available. Max particularly loves the chicken and rice formula. It also seems to have good quality ingredients – no fillers or anything sketchy like that.

The kibble size is perfect too, not too big or small, so it suits both small and large breeds. To top it off, Max showed significantly better digestion since we switched from his old brand. No more upset stomach incidents since we made the switch!

One downside might be the price though—it’s not exactly cheap. But if you ask me, I think it’s worth spending a bit more to ensure our furry friends get the nutrition they need.

Would love to hear experiences from others. Who else here has tried Nutrisource?

Just wanted to share my personal experience with Pure Balance dog food. I started Sammy, that’s my Lab Retriever mix by the way, on Pure Balance a few months ago and it’s been doing wonders for him.

For years we battled some digestion and skin allergy troubles with Sammy but within two weeks of switching to Pure Balance, the difference was clear as day.

I specifically use the Lamb and Brown Rice variety because Sammy is head over tails for lamb. He has lost all interest in table scraps now (a win-win situation, ya know). This stuff gives him clean poops regularly (yay for easy cleanups!) and his coat’s never looked healthier either.

And not to mention the convenient delivery options from Walmart if you’re lazy like me. 😉

As always though, every pup is different so things might not be the same for your fur baby. Always best to try out a small bag first before diving in completely.

Hope this helps anyone considering a switch to Pure Balance! Just look at the tail wagging now. 🐾🐕‍🦺

    Cheers guys,

in reply to: Feeding Fido: My Nutra Nuggets Dog Food Review #2198

I’ve been using Nutra Nuggets for about 6 months now for my two boxers, Jake and Betty. Bet you can tell I’m a huge animal lover! Anyway, both been doing really well on it, actually. Their coats are shinier and their energy levels are through the roof!

But here’s the thing: I tried switching them to the lamb formula just for some variety and they weren’t having any of it! Stuck their noses up like it was yesterday’s news. Couldn’t convince ’em to even give it a sniff. Went right back to chicken. Thought I would mix things up, but dogs will be dogs, eh?

So, my thoughts? It’s good food – no garbage ingredients and competitively priced but don’t go adventurous with the flavors – stick to chicken if your dog is fussy like mine.

Always keep your pet’s preferences in mind while making such switches – because honestly, who knows their likes better than us owners ourselves, right? Keep those tails wagging!

    Ciao!

in reply to: My Experience with Wholesomes Dog Food: A Review #2441

Just wanted to weigh in about the Wholesomes dog food. I’ve been using it for my Lab, Max, for almost a year now and not gonna lie, I’m quite pleased with the results. His coat’s shinier than ever, and his energy levels have definitely picked up.

Yes, it runs a bit pricier than your grocery store brands but you realy see the difference in quality. It’s grain-free too which was great for us since poor Max has a bit of a sensitive stomach. The first time we switched him over, he had some mild digestive issues, but they cleared up after a week or so. Our vet double-checked and confirmed it’s totally normal as dogs sometimes need time to adjust to new food.

Word of advice – try small packets first to see how your fur baby responds before going for the larger bags. Remember every dog is unique so what works for Max might not work for your pup. Just keep that in mind and do what’s best for your four-legged friend!

Wishing you and your pooch all the best,
    [YourName]

in reply to: My Personal Experience and Kal Kan Dog Food Review #2480

In my experience, Kal Kan has been a great choice for my fur babies. I appreciate that it’s an affordable option and you get quite a bit for what you pay. My dogs seem to really like the taste too – they chow it right down whenever I put it in their bowls.

One thing I did notice though is that the ingredient list isn’t as high quality as some of the more expensive brands. It has a lot of fillers and grains, which isn’t ideal for dogs with allergies or those who need a grain-free diet.

That being said, my dogs have always done well on it, with no negative health effects so far (touch wood). Their coats are shiny and they’re full of energy. If budget is a consideration for you, Kal Kan might be worth trying out!

Remember though every dog is unique and what works great for mine might not suit yours! Always watch how your pup responds to a new food and consult with your vet if you’re unsure.

    Cheers!

Just saw this thread and I thought I’d chime in ’cause I’ve been feeding my Rufus (he’s a Lab, for what it’s worth) Black Gold dog food for a couple months now. The switch to Black Gold came after Rufus started showing less interest in his old kibble.

I was initially pretty skeptical about it due to the price—It’s a little steep compared to other products—but figured we might as well give it a shot. Gotta say, I’ve been pleasantly surprised! Rufus seems to love the flavor, clears up his bowl like there’s no tomorrow and his coat has gotten noticeably shinier since we started him on Black Gold. He’s got loads more energy too, which at times can be… erm… a bit much (anyone want an overly-energetic Lab?! Just kidding).

The ingredient list doesn’t seem too shabby either. Lots of good stuff – chicken meal, fish meal, grains – that kind of thing. Though do correct me if I’m wrong guys – not exactly a pet nutrition expert here.

One downside though: the “kibble dust” at the end of the bag. It gets everywhere and Rufus isn’t too keen on it. But hey, overall, very happy with our decision so far!

Anyway, just my two cents. Cheers!
