  • I’ve been using Pawstruck dog food for about a year now and I gotta say, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. On the plus side, our labradoodle Maddie simply loves the taste. But I do have a few concerns.

The price is one thing – it’s pretty steep compared to other brands offering similar quality. Another thing that caught my attention is that the bags we order sometimes have variations in kibble size and shape, which kinda makes me question their quality control.

Maddie hasn’t had any health issues so far (touch wood) but that’s definitely something that has me thinking twice before we get our next batch. juts wanted to share this with you all considering Pawstruck for your fur babies. Do your own research too though! Every pup is unique and what doesn’t work for Maddie might just be the perfect fit for your pooch.

    Stay paw-some! 🐾

Well, Max ate it okay at first. He never seemed excited about meal times anymore though. Then we noticed some skin issues popping up – dry patches and such. Our vet didn’t make a direct correlation between the food and the skin problems but suggested we switch food just in case.

So yeah, we changed back to our old brand and his skin cleared up pretty nicely. I can’t say for sure Fromm caused it, but wasn’t worth the risk. And honestly, there are many other quality brands out there that don’t burn a hole in your pocket.

Every pup is different and some might do great on Fromm’s. Unfortunately for us- Max wasn’t one of them!

I’ve been using Bully Max for my Rottweiler for around a year now. Sure, it’s a bit pricey, but you gotta admit, the ingredients are top-notch – meat as the first ingredient and no cheap grain fillers, that’s a big win in my book!

But…let’s be honest here. My Rocky doesn’t seem to be all that thrilled about the taste. Even after trying both the classic and high-performance version, he still prefers his old kibble over Bully Max. I mean, what good is nutritional value if your pup doesn’t eat it right?

Everyone raves about how their dogs got stronger and more muscular on this stuff, but I haven’t seen much difference with mine. Could be because Rocky gets plenty of exercise already or because he isn’t eating it consistently due to flavor.

Anyway, if your dog likes the flavor it might be worth giving Bully Max a shot. Just thought I’d share my two cents! Cheers!

Also called their customer service once and it was less than helpful. The person I talked to didn’t seem knowledgeable about their products at all. Really?

I’d say if your pup isn’t picky or sensitive to changes in diet, then maybe give WAG a shot. But if you’re dealing with a finicky eater like Buster or a dog with dietary sensitivities, You might wanna explore other options. My two cents, folks! Keep those tails wagging!

To start with the good stuff, I love the all-natural ingredient list. The high protein content from real meat, fruits and veggies really sold me initially. Both of my girls seem to like the taste too.

But here are the tough parts…First, the price point is steep compared to other premium dog foods. When you’re feeding two large dogs every day, this starts to add up fast.

Secondly, one of my girls had quite a rough digestive reaction after our first few bags. Took some experimenting to realize it was the food causing her issues. (Lots of vet trips, poor girl!)

I wanted to love BIXBI because I value nutrition so much for my pups, but honestly, we’re currently looking into alternatives that will hopefully settle better with my sensitive one’s tummy without breaking the bank.

Just goes to show, every dog is different and while some may thrive on BIXBI, others just might not handle it as well. Keep trying until you find what works best for your pup!

First off, kudos to Katherine for her efforts in animal care and wellbeing. Her passion is admirable, but unfortunately, it didn’t translate well into the dog food. For starters, it’s quite expensive compared with some other top-quality brands out there. Jasper, bless his heart, would eat socks if I gave him the chance but even he wasn’t super thrilled about this stuff.

Also, had a close look at the ingredients list and while all the buzzwords like “natural” and “grain free” were definitely present, high-quality proteins weren’t as prominent as I’d have liked. For the price they’re charging, I expected a bit more.

In a nutshell — great initiative from Katherine Heigl to invest time and money in our furry friends — but I don’t think this dog food quite hits the mark for us pawrents obsessed with our fur babies’ diet. We’ll stick to our regular brand until then. Anyone else had similar experience?

I’ve had my Lab on Nutrish for about a year now; I think it’s alright but not exceptional. Her coat’s been shiny and she seems energetic, so it does the job well in that regard. The ingredient list is decent too, but I just can’t get past the fact it’s marketed as “natural” when it still contains added colors.

While the brand promises no artificial flavors or preservatives, spotting added “caramel color” on their ingredient list doesn’t exactly spell all-natural to me. Like yeah, mabye it isn’t harmful but why add unnecessary colorings when we’ve got plenty of truly natural options available? It just seems fishy.

Also, I spotted some corn gluten meal in the mix—a cheap by-product that doesn’t really offer much nutritional value. My vet said it can often lead to allergies and digestibility issues, so that was a bummer.

All in all, Nutrish does feed our furry friends reasonably well without breaking the bank and if your pooch isn’t ultra-sensitive, they might do just fine on it. But given these downsides, I’m looking to transition her onto something that lives up to its natural claims a bit more rigidly moving forward for peace of mind.

If you’re a stickler for clean labels like me, perhaps consider doing your research to find brands with truly transparent and high-quality ingredient profiles. Just putting my two cents in!

However, I’ve had a couple of issues with it as well. Max took a while to get used to the new food. He had some soft stools during the adjustment period which wasn’t great but eventually got sorted out. Also, I think their consistency can sometimes be off. In some bags, you can notice a slightly different smell or color.

Also just to put it out there – this brand isn’t cheap by any means but you know how it is—we do anything for our pups! Don’t just take my word for it though, every dog reacts differently to different diets so your experience could be totally different. Heads up—do look into any recalls before making a decision. You want what’s best for your fur buddy after all! Good luck!

I’ve been using Lone Wolf Ranch dog food for my golden retriever, and so far I’m a bit on the fence about it. The ingredients are pretty impressive – no filler grains, all natural proteins, healthy stuff that you want to see in your pup’s food. My girl Tasha seems to realy dig the flavor too.

However, I’ve noticed she’s not been as active as she used to be. Could purely be coincidence or something else entirely, but thought it’s worth mentioning. She’s also had a couple of digestion issues since the switch. So for now, I’m taking things slow before deciding whether to continue with Lone Wolf Ranch or switch back to her old food.

Overall, decent quality and value for money, but the potential side effects are a bit concerning. Any other pet parents out there noticing similar issues? Let me know!

P.S.: Everyone loves their fur babies and wants them to have the best—just remember what works for one dog might not work for another! So always consult your vet when changing up significant things like diets.

However, vets have always told me to be wary of “meat by-product” in ingredients list. Not like it’s poison or anything, but simply because the quality isn’t guaranteed. So, if we’re talking nutrition, there might be better quality foods out there.

The price point is attractive though, and so far, no bad side effects at all! For limited budgets, this one is quite decent if you ask me.

Relatively speaking though, it wouldn’t hurt to toss in some home-cooked meals every now and again. We do chicken and veggies blend once a week – vet-approved recipe and my dog absolutely loves it!

You know your dog best though. If they’re healthy and happy with Purina, don’t fix what ain’t broke! 🙂

But hey, aren’t we aware that each dog has its own diet preferences and nutritional needs? Your furbaby might not react the same way as Pepper did to 4health. It’s always a good idea to transition slowly when switching food brands, mabye mix in a bit of the new stuff with their old food initially.

Check the ingredients too, okay? Some pups could have allergies you’re unaware of. The one I picked is grain-free because Pepper has a mild grain allergy – yeah, who would have thunk it? A retriever allergic to grains!

All in all, love 4health but remember the most important reviewer should be your pup! Let them try it and judge by their reaction. After all, they’re the ones eating it! 🐾

I was initially concerned about whether he’d get enough nutrients because it’s grain free but my vet assured me that it’s a well-balanced diet when combined with a few treats and regular exercise. The high protein content from real chicken has also helped him maintain healthy muscle mass, which is often a concern for large breeds like Rotties.

Only downside – this stuff ain’t cheap. But I figure good health is worth investing in. Just throwing this out there in case cost is something you’re considering. Overall though, Black Gold gets two paws up from Bear and me! 🐾🐾

Would love to hear how other pups are doing on it!

So, I’ve been using GO! Solutions for my golden retriever, Daisy, for about 6 months now. One of the best decisions I’ve made. She had problems with dry skin and itchy coat before but I’ve noticed a significant difference in her since we switched. Her skin issues have visibly improved plus her fur is looking glossier than ever!

I also love the variety they provide. From salmon and oatmeal to chicken and duck recipes – You name it, they got it. This is amazing because Daisy gets bored easily eating the same thing, but not with this brand.

One downside might be the price. It’s on the pricier side compared to regular dog food brands, but honestly? All worth it considering the quality you get.

Remember though, every dog is different so what works for Daisy might not work for every good boy (or girl) out there. That said, GO! Solutions has been a solid choice for us. Hope that helps!

    Cheers,
    Max

in reply to: Turning a New Leaf: Kirkland Dog Food Review #1935

Just thought I’d throw my two cents in about Kirkland dog food since we’ve been using it for a bit now. We have a picky Golden Retriever annd I gotta admit, she seems to really enjoy the taste of Kirkland’s stuff.

Ingredient wise, it seems good to go – grain-free options, real meat listed as first ingredient, and no funky by-products that we typically try to avoid. Plus, I dig the fact there’s variety – different formulas for puppies, adults, and seniors. Bonus point on them adding probiotics!

But remember folks, every dog is a unique furball with their own preferences and dietary needs. While Kirkland’s been great for us (and more affordable than some options), might be worth giving your vet a quick call before switching over completely just to be on the safe side.

    Cheers!
