But on the downside, they’re quite pricey compared to other brands on the market. Plus, they’re really crunchy… so much so that sometimes Freddie has a hard time chewing them. I’ve tried soaking them in water first to soften up, but then it kinda loses its appeal for him.

I also wish they had more variety in flavors, as Freddie gets bored eating the same thing every day. So while the quality is good, I’m looking at trying something else soon for a balance in nutrition and taste.

Hope this helps you out a bit in making your decision! It’s always tricky finding what works best for our furry friends.

in reply to: My Experience with Wholesomes Dog Food: A Review #2442

First off – yes, it’s a bit more expensive than some of those big-name brands out there. But honestly, in my opinion, it’s worth every penny. The ingredient list alone made me do a double take – real chicken or beef as the first ingredient (depends on the flavor you go for), brown rice, hearty veggies…it reads like a healthy dinner recipe!

Since switching to Wholesomes, Buddy’s coat is shinier and his energy levels are through the roof. Even his vet has noticed an improvement in his overall health. Also worth mentioning is that Buddy absolutely loves the taste; always gobbles up his meals in no time!

The only downside was that it took a little while for Buddy’s stomach to adjust to the change from his previous food – he dealt with some minor upset for the first couple days. But once he got used to it, no issues whatsoever.

In case anyone’s on the fence about trying out Wholesomes – I’d say give it a shot! A healthier diet can really make a difference in your pupper’s life. Good luck!

in reply to: My Honest CRAVE Dog Food Review for New Dog Parents #2782

I tried CRAVE dog food for my Border Collie, Max. Honestly, I wasn’t too impressed. The protein content was promising, sure – but they source it from chicken meal annd even pea protein. Now I’m no nutritionist, but aren’t meats ideally supposed to be the primary source of protein for dogs?

And let’s not ignore the fact that this stuff is gritty! Not something you’d expect your furry friend to enjoy munching. Max ate it, but he wasn’t excited for meal times like he usually is. Was sorta a turn-off seeing him lose his enthusiasm for food.

Price point is alright, kinda middle-ground compared to other high-protein options around. But given the meaty claims, I expected more quality grubs per kibble, if you catch my drift.

Bottom line: I’m not raving about Crave and am probably switching back to our old brand. If they improve their recipe and bring in more real meat (not meal!), I might give them another shot.

Does anyone have similar experience or should I try another bag just to be sure? Sometimes Max can be picky without a clear reason…

in reply to: My Personal Experience and Kal Kan Dog Food Review #2488

Rocky’s coat has been especially glossy lately and he seems more energetic than ever since we switched to Kal Kan. The only downside I’d say is the smell – it’s a bit stronger than other brands. But given how much Rocky loves it and how affordable it is, we’re willing to brave that minor inconvenience. On the whole, definitely recommend trying Kal Kan dog food out for your furry friends.

I’ve been using Diamond Naturals for my golden lab, Sam, for about a year now. He absolutely adores it, and I can honestly say it’s improved his coat; he’s never looked better or shinier! Plus, you gotta love the real meat ingredients list, not just some mystery “meat meal”.

Now, on the other side of things, it is a bit more expensive than your run-of-the-mill dog food. It might not be in everyone’s budget when you’re feeding a large breed like mine. However, the health benefits it provides Sam with are worth it IMO.

One tip – make sure to introduce this (or any new food really) gradually into your dog’s diet. A sudden switch can upset their stomach a bit.

So yeah, overall I’m really satisfied with Diamond Naturals and would recommend it to fellow dog parents out there! Just remember that every pup is unique and what works for my Sam might not work for yours. Always best to consult your trusted vet about dietary changes. 🐾

So far? I’m pretty content with it. It definitely gets the approval from my Labrador, Molly – she seems to gobble it up just as eagerly as her previous brand which was considerably more expensive (a win, right?). The food pieces are small and manageable so she has no problem eating them. Plus, I’ve noticed her coat getting shinier and her energy levels remaining high.

However, I do have a minor qualm. The ingredient list includes some grains and by-products that could be problematic for dogs with certain dietary needs or allergies. They’re not the top ingredients but worth noting if your pup has a sensitive stomach.

Personally, for the price point, I think Pet Pride dog food is totally decent quality option. But just keep an eye on how your dog reacts to the new diet, every pup is different after all!

Just been feeding my fur-baby, Max, Earthborn Holistic dog food for the past two months and thought I’d share my experience. First off, little Max has a pretty delicate stomach so finding a brand he can tolerate well is no small feat!

Earthborn’s ingredient list impressed me – they mainly use high-quality proteins and fibers, plus there’s no artificial nasties. It’s great knowing I’m feeding him something wholesome. He’s on the grain-free formula (we think he’s a bit sensitive to grains) and since switching to this, he’s been much more energetic and his coat is all shiny now Plus, no more upset tummy dramas!

The only slight downside I noticed about Earthborn is the price tag: it’s a bit more than your average kibble. But in my book, it’s totally worth it given the quality you’re getting. Plus with how much better Max has been feeling, I definitely see it as an investment in his health.

Any other Earthborn feeders here? Would love to know your thoughts or if you have any tips for other options for sensitive tummies!

Now, that’s just one dog’s opinion. I’ve seen reviews online where some dogs really love the stuff but every dog is different I guess. Still on the hunt for the perfect canned food mix in. If anyone has recommendations, shoot ’em my way!

Charlie, my Golden, loves it and his coat looks absolutely amazing since the switch. Another bonus point – it doesn’t upset his stomach like a few of the other foods we’ve tried in the past (Charlie’s got a sensitive tummy).

On the flip side, it can be a bit harder to find than some of the more mainstream brands. Not all stores carry it, so sometimes I have to plan ahead a bit more when we’re running low. Also noticed it doesn’t come in canned options which would make meal variety easier.

But hey overall, we’re pretty happy with Pure Balance. Would definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re considering it. Remember though, every doggo is different and will react differently to food changes so introduce anything new gradually!

That being said, my Jake has had some digestion problems since we switched. Not sure if it’s the change itself or the food. His coat seems shinier than ever though, and his energy levels have improved… so I’m torn! Has anyone else experienced this? I might give it a little longer before fully passing judgement. After all, Jake could juts be being extra sensitive 🙄 Oh dogs, always keeping us guessing!

juts saw your post about Merrick dog food and thought I’d toss in my two cents. We switched our golden retriever, Bailey to Merrick’s Grain-Free recipe a few months back at the recommendation of our vet. She had been experiencing some stomach issues with her previous brand and so we thought to give it a shot.

Honestly, it’s been great for her! No more tummy troubles, AND she seemed to have gained a bit more energy (if that’s even possible with a golden!). I’d also noticed her coat seems shinier. Not sure if it’s a thing but bonus either way right?

The only downside to the Merrick in my experience is that it’s a bit pricier than some other brands. But honestly, for the changes I’ve seen in Bailey, I think it’s worth every penny.

One advice though, always introduce any new food gradually to avoid upsetting their digestion. Mix in the new food with their old diet over the course of a week or so to ensure they transition smoothly.

Hope this helps you out! Let me know what you end up choosing for your furry friend. 🐾

in reply to: Personal Experiences with Beneful Dog Food: A Review #2130

I’ve been feeding my Labrador, Coco, Beneful’s dry food for about a year now. He gobbles it up every time, so I’d say it’s safe to say he enjoys the taste! However, I know that taste isn’t everything when it comes to dog food.

Here’s where it gets a bit tricky. Some dog owners might tell ya it’s packed with grains and fillers, which isn’t the best for our furry buddies – trust me, I did my research too. But honestly, in my case? Coco has remained healthy, active, and his coat is as shiny as ever! So, it hasn’t negatively affected him in any noticeable ways on my end.

One thing I am not super thrilled about though is that Beneful isn’t all that transparent about where they source their ingredients from. As a pet parent who wants the absolute best for his pooch, I kinda want to know where their protein or grain is coming from.

All in all, if you’re going for value-for-money – Beneful may fit the bill juts perfectly. It certainly makes Coco’s tail wag at meal times! But if you can afford higher-end brands with clearer ingredient sourcing and fewer fillers? Might be worth exploring.

Just remember – each doggo is unique. What works for mine may not work for yours!

Hey all! So, my golden retriever Milo has been on Taste of The Wild for about 6 months now. I swear he can’t get enough of it. We normally get the High Prairie flavor (that bison and venison one), but occasionally rotate through other flavors just for variety’s sake.

Before switching to TOTW, Milo had some skin issues and lethargy. Can’t say if this was directly related to his old food but ever since we made the switch, his coat is shinier than ever and he seems a bit more energetic too.

I love that it’s grain-free and packed with quality meat – you can really tell from the ingredient list. The probiotics are an added bonus. Of course, nothing is perfect – the price point can be quite high compared to other brands, so that’s something to consider.

But overall? I’d give this brand a solid 4/5. Remember though, every dog is different and what works well for Milo might not necessarily work for your furry friend! Always best to discuss with your vet before making any big diet changes.

I’ve got to say I’m not too impressed with Grandma Lucy’s dog food. My bull terrier, Rocky, normally scarfs down his meals but he was pretty resistant to this brand. Plus, the smell… yikes! It’s like a bizarre fruity/earthy mix that hangs around long after feeding time.

The ingredients seem all-natural and they hype up their hormone and antibiotic-free promise which is great, but let’s be honest, if our dogs won’t eat it what’s the point? The price isn’t friendly either—it feels overpriced for such a product.

I’ve heard some folks raving about this brand though, so maybe it’s a hit-or-miss thing. In any case, I’d suggest trying out a small bag first before investing in bulk. To each their own though, every pooch is different!
    Hope this helps.
