SmilingBeagle6071
MemberNow, I know they advertise premium ingredients and my vet says the nutritional balance is solid, but my fur babies are just not fans at all. Buster used to sprint to his bowl but with this stuff, he kind of just sniffs it and walks away. Bella still eats it, being the less picky one, but much more slowly than before.
Moreover, let’s talk about their pricing – definitely on the high end compared to other brands offering similar quality. I get that we’re supposed to pay a bit more for organic, grain-free and all that jazz, but there’s a line somewhere and I feel like Lone Wolf has crossed it.
Not trying to bash them totally though – their eco-friendly packaging is a nice touch and their customer service is pretty responsive. It’s just the actual product itself isn’t flying over here.
Anyway, as always remember every pupper is unique and what didn’t work for Buster and Bella might be perfect for your canine companion! Will definitely keep you all updated if we decide to switch things up again.

MemberI’ve tried AvoDerm for my Labrador a while back! Now, don’t get me wrong, I loved the idea of it. The promise of all those omega-rich avocados and top-notch proteins? Sign me up. But let’s be real here; it wasn’t the hit I thought it would be.
First off, my Lab had some digestive issues with it – not a serious one but noticeable. And she didn’t seem to really fancy the taste either. It’s like she ate it ’cause she had to eat something, you know what I mean?
Secondly, after some time on AvoDerm, I didn’t notice any significant improvement in her coat or skin that couldn’t be attributed to our regular grooming and care routine. If you’re thinking about switching because you believe this food is going to miraculously transform your dog’s coat overnight- well…not from my experience.
Lastly, the price seemed a bit steep for the results we got.
Just remember though, every pup is different and Seattle (my lab) might just be picky, so your dog could have a totally different response!
Just setting expectations here based on my experience. Good luck!
10/30/2024 at 10:30 PM in reply to: My Own Experience with The Honest Kitchen Dog Food: A Detailed Review #2944SmilingBeagle6071
MemberFirst off, the dehydrated formula may be a bit tough for some dogs to handle, especially those with sensitive tummies – lesson learned the hard way when my Golden started having irregular bowel movements. Don’t get me started on the price point either – paying premium only makes sense if your pups are keen on it.
On another note, while they promote being “human-grade”, both Fido and Spot left half their meals uneaten. Considering these two would eat my shoe if given the chance…it was certainly a red flag. Granted every dog is unique and what doesn’t fly with mine might work out great for yours.
Just thought I’d throw in my two cents from a practical perspective! Anyone else have similar or differing takes? Would love to hear other experiences!
10/21/2024 at 10:03 AM in reply to: Just Completed a Month on Farmina Dog Food – Here’s My Review #2408SmilingBeagle6071
MemberThe ingredients list is incredible – nothing but the good stuff in there. It’s grain-free which is a big win for me because Daisy’s always had a sensitive stomach. Plus, they have a variety of flavors and proteins to choose from so your doggo doesn’t get bored, you know?
And just look at her coat now – it’s rich and shiny and feels so healthy! She seems to have gained more energy too since I switched. At first glance, it might seem a tad expensive per bag compared to other brands but let me tell you: health-wise it’s an absolute bargain!
The only drawback? The smell could be better. But that’s probably just the human in me complaining ¯_(ツ)_/¯ . After all, as long as Daisy’s happy chomping away at her meals, it’s all good!
So personally, Farmina gets two paws up from us. Hope this helps out a bit with your decision!
10/20/2024 at 10:46 AM in reply to: Optimizing Large and Giant Breed Puppy Nutrition From the Start #2075SmilingBeagle6071
MemberI completely understand your struggle! Feeding large and giant breed puppies can definitely be trickier than other breeds. Portion control is a biggie because those little (or, rather, not so little) furballs can indeed pack away some serious amount of food!
Doing a bit of research beforehand goes a long way. I feed my Great Dane pup a mix of dry food and cooked lean meats with the occasional fruits and veggies. High-quality dog food that’s specially formulated for large breeds has proven really beneficial in our case. It contains the right balance of nutrients like proteins, fiber, and essential fats.
Just watch out for feeding them too much protein as it could lead to rapid growth and health issues later on. I remember something about having to aim for a steady, gradual growth over time instead of quick growth spurts.
Also worth mentioning – keep an eye on calcium amounts in their diet as excessive calcium could lead to skeletal problems in these bigger breeds. Lastly, due to their size they’re noticeable chowhounds but try your best not to overfeed them to avoid obesity issues.
And yeah, once you get into the routine it’s not much of a bother and you’d be amazed at how these guidelines make such a difference!
Happy feeding!
10/08/2024 at 5:16 AM in reply to: Looking for a Pure Balance Dog Food Review? Check out my experience! #1919SmilingBeagle6071
MemberJust saw your post about Pure Balance Dog Food annd thought I’d weigh in. Got a lab mix, 5 years old and she’s been on Pure Balance for about 6 months now.
Personally, I’m pretty happy with it! I switched over from another high-end kibble that was almost twice the price, to be honest. I’ve noticed her coat has gotten shinier and she seems to have more energy too. The best part is, she absolutely loves meal times now.
The ingredient list seems great – lots of good protein sources and real vegetables, no sneaky stuff or fillers. I could tell straight away that this isn’t just another cheap brand full of grain filler masquerading as “enriched” or “fortified”.
I just wish they’d work a little on their packaging, though! Three times out of five, the bag arrives a bit beaten up but thank goodness no rips so far!
All in all, my rating would be solid 4/5 for Pure Balance. Good quality food at an affordable price point – my girl couldn’t ask for more (except maybe unlimited belly rubs!). Definitely plan on sticking with this brand for the near future.
Hope that helps with your decision! Pats and treats to your pup from us!

MemberI’ve actually been feeding my golden retriever Wholesomes dog food for a couple of months now. Before that, he was suffering from some digestion problems – poor lad was really struggling with other brands. But since switching to Wholesomes, I tell you what, it’s like night and day. His coat is super shiny now and no more tummy troubles. The ingredients list looks great too – real meat as the first ingredient and no artificial mumbo jumbo; just simple, clean nutrition.
It’s true it’s a bit on the pricier side, but honestly, seeing my boy so healthy is worth every penny. Just goes to show you get what you pay for in the dog food aisle!
If your pup has a sensitive stomach or any skin issues, I’d recommend giving Wholesomes a try. They’ve got different formulas depending on your dog’s needs, so there’s likely something that would suit your fur-baby.
Of course, every dog is different and what works for mine may not work for yours. Always worth it thogh to do your research and give things a go if you think it might help improve your pup’s quality of life.
Hope this helps!
08/31/2024 at 2:48 AM in reply to: “Weruva Dog Food Review: A Game Changer for My Picky Eater” #2798SmilingBeagle6071
MemberOn the one hand, the cans are filled with shreds of real meat and vegetables which is awesome. Daisy goes absolutely nuts for the smell when I open a can. Plus they’re grain-free and Weruva has it all – chicken with pumpkin soup or lamb with sweet potato…you get the drill.
But on the flipside, after introducing Weruva to her diet, she started having gastrointestinal issues. She had gas like crazy and let’s just say…the backyard cleanup was pretty messy for a bit. Not fun at all! It was pretty hard seeing Daisy uncomfortable like that and suspecting her food might be the culprit.
Also noticed it can be a little bit pricey compared to other brands out there. For those of you feeding multiple dogs or on a budget, this could be something you’ll want to keep in mind.
So yeah. The quality seems great but it just didn’t exactly agree with my girl Daisy’s tummy unfortunately! Just remember every dog is different though so your experience might be totally different! Always worth trying and deciding for yourselves folks!
08/19/2024 at 1:35 PM in reply to: Looking for Genuine Nutro Dog Food Reviews: Let’s Swap Stories! #3051SmilingBeagle6071
Memberjuts wanted to throw in my two cents on Nutro dog food. My golden retriever has been on it for about 6 months now, and I’ve noticed a slight change in his energy levels. Honestly, he seems a bit less active than before, which got me worried. Also, I can’t shake off the fact that the kibble looks rather dull compared to some other brands we’ve tried.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’s bad per se, but there are other options in the same price range with better feedback from vets. After a chat with our vet last week (he wasn’t overly enthusiastic about Nutro), we decided to switch to a different brand with more natural ingredients and proteins.
I’d advise taking the time to thoroughly research and even check with your vet first before deciding on any diet change for your pup. Each dog is different, after all. One brand might work wonders for one dog, yet be total rubbish for another. Keep that tail wagging! 🐾🐾
08/11/2024 at 1:16 AM in reply to: My Fresh Perspective on 4health Dog Food: A Comprehensive Review #2238SmilingBeagle6071
MemberJust saw your post asking for a 4health dog food review. My Border Collie, Marshmallow, has been on 4Health for around 6 months now and I’m pretty happy with it as far as dog foods go. What I like most are the ingredients – no corn, wheat or soy, lots of protein sources and even some fruit and veggies in there.
Marshmallow’s coat has never been shinier and she seems to really enjoy her meals. Some improvement in her energy levels too, though she’s always been quite the firecracker so hard to tell if that’s just her or the food, haha.
Only hiccup was at the start – it took her digestive system a couple of weeks to fully adjust to the change and we had some runny poop issues. Might wanna transition over slowly if you decide to switch.
But overall? Two thumbs up from me (and a wagging tail from Marsh!) 😉
Remember every dog is different, so what works for Marsh might not work for all . Let us know how it goes if you choose 4Health!

Memberjuts had to drop my two cents about TIKI dog food. We’d been eager to switch our boxer, Jake, over because of the rave reviews we’d heard. ‘High quality ingredients’, ‘Great for sensitive stomachs’, all that jazz. Our excitement kinda deflated when we saw the end result though.
Don’t get me wrong, I totally appreciate TIKI’s philosophy of premium, whole ingredients. Jake seemed to love the flavor too—I swear he did a little dance every feeding time! But truth be told, we started noticing some issues within a few days. Jake was scratching way more than ever, and it didn’t take rocket science to figure out something was up.
After a quick chat with our vet (seriously guys, always check with your vet before switching foods), turns out Jake isn’t handling this new diet well at all. He’s got allergies we never knew about until now.
Also noticed something interesting while inspecting the ingredient list closer—it’s not grain-free as we initially thought. Now it makes sense why Jake reacted this way—he’s never done well with grains.
Long story short, TIKI dog food might be great for some pups out there but I wouldn’t rush to recommend it across the board. Always cross-check ingredients and consult with your vet before making a switch.
Reminding ourselves that not everything works for every dog and it’s important to know your fur buddy’s needs inside and out.
Just because it’s pricey or popular doesn’t mean it’s going to go down well with your pooch!Take care everyone,
Chat soon.07/24/2024 at 10:14 AM in reply to: My Sportstrail Dog Food Review – Canine Favourite or Fido’s Flop? #2795SmilingBeagle6071
MemberRight off the bat, their ingredient list had me squinting. It felt like there were more fillers and by-products than I’d prefer. Yeah, they say it’s balanced and all that jazz, but I was expecting more premium proteins and a bit more transparency in their recipe.
Also, noticed my dog’s coat lost some of its shine after the switch. Nothing drastic but definitely noticeable to a careful observer like me! Switched him back to his old food for a little while whereupon his coat got shinier and seemed healthier overall.
In terms of digestion, seems ok. No major issues that way. But considering how prominent skin & coat health is these days among us pet parents, it’s worth paying a bit more attention to what goes into the feeding bowl.
To sum up my novel here – it’s okay-ish if you’re in a pinch or on a tight budget. Just wished Sportstrail would step up their game a little bit. Fine-tuning their nutrition formula wouldn’t hurt!
Of course, it’s just one dog owner’s opinion! Cheers.
07/12/2024 at 9:30 PM in reply to: Decoding Natural Balance Dog Food Reviews: A Personal Journey #3026SmilingBeagle6071
MemberSo I’ve been using Natural Balance for my golden retriever, Max, since he was a pup. He used to chow down on this stuff like there’s no tomorrow – especially the sweet potato & fish formula! Lately though, I noticed a shift in his behavior around meal times. He’s become a bit more hesitant with this brand and his stools aren’t as healthy-looking as before.
I did a little digging and apparently the company changed hands not too long ago? Anyone else notice if their quality may have gone downhill? I tried reaching out to them directly but the customer service is as forthcoming as a dodgy politician in a scandal. It’s all generic replies and empty apologies, which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, right?
I’m contemplating swapping brands, ‘cos at the end of the day it’s all about Max’s well-being. But before I do, I wanted to gather some thoughts. Anyone else having similar experiences with Natural Balance or is Max juts being extra picky these days?
Peace. 💛
06/29/2024 at 5:02 PM in reply to: A Realistic Rachael Ray Dog Food Review from a Long-Time Dog Owner #1889SmilingBeagle6071
MemberAs for affordability, it’s certainly pricier compared to some supermarket brands out there. But the cost has been manageable for me so far and if it means a healthier diet for Charlie, I’m all in! The only thing I haven’t been a big fan of is how hard it is to find some days. My local store runs out pretty often but thankfully, online orders have saved the day more than once.
In short, would recommend giving Rachael Ray dog food a whirl if you’re thinking about it. It’s proven to be a good choice for Charlie but like with anything else, monitor your dog closely after switching their food just to make sure they aren’t having any adverse reactions. Good luck!
06/19/2024 at 1:49 AM in reply to: “Black Gold Dog Food Review: A Dog Owner’s Honest Opinion!” #2419SmilingBeagle6071
MemberJust saw your post about Black Gold dog food and felt compelled to put in my two cents. I’ve been feeding my golden retriever, Rocky, the black gold blend for a good while now. He seems to realy enjoy it compared to some of the other brands we’ve tried (to be honest, it’s any day a relief when you find something that doesn’t turn up his nose).
The ingredients list also reads quite well– decent protein content from a quality source if that’s something you’re particularly looking for in dog food. A minor setback might be that it’s a bit more expensive than average, but in terms of value for money? My vote goes with Black Gold. Of course, not every dog is the same and reacts significantly differently to different foods.
Overall, definitely worth trying to see if your pup approves!
P.S – It’s always wise to make any dietary transitions gradually over a week or so… lest you want to deal with an upset puppy belly!
Hope this helps!
