MemberOh wow, Kal Kan. I haven’t fed that to my pooch in years. As I remember it, she didn’t really care for it much and seemed a little less energetic than usual around the time I was feeding her Kal Kan. I switched over to a brand called Taste of the Wild, and she picked up almost immediately.
I’ve heard some say their dogs absolutely love Kal Kan though, so maybe it just depends on each dog’s individual tastes and dietary needs? If your dog has a sensitive stomach or any special dietary requirements, I’d recommend chatting with your vet before making the switch. Nothing says ‘I love you’ like making sure your fur baby is healthy and happy!
Just my two cents, of course. What’s best for one dog may not be the case for another. Every pup is unique!

MemberWhile I can’t deny that he seems to like the taste, I started noticing some tell-tale signs of tummy troubles soon after we made the switch. He’d sometimes leave his meals unfinished, which was so unlike him! Let me tell you, Benny never leaves a meal half-eaten. And then there were minor occurrences of loose stools and gas – stuff that only a dog owner could talk about without cringing!
Look, I’m no vet, but if your fur kiddo has a sensitive stomach like mine does, this might not be the best product for them. The quality is decent for the price point though and I’ve heard from folks with sturdier dogs who are doing juts fine on Evangers.
End of the day, we decided to switch Benny back to his old food. Guess we learned our lesson – what works for one dog may not work for another! Will remember this next time we feel like changing up his diet!

MemberMax did have some loose stool the first week or two when we switched from his old food to Acana, but that’s something you might expect when changing dog foods. Got better after a while. Can’t say anything bad about the quality of ingredients they use – I mean it’s grain-free and packed with protein and veggies. Pretty spot on!
But… it ain’t exactly what you’d call cheap! Still, for me, Max’s health is number one priority so if a few extra bucks means better ingredients and a happier pup – I’m up for it. It’s all about what works best for our furry pals, right? So yeah, all in all I’d rate Acana as top-notch dog food. Would recommend giving it a go if you’re considering a switch!

MemberLast but definitely not least, steer clear from cooked bones as they can splinter easily and end up harming your pooch. That’s one worry nobody needs. So go ahead and treat your fur baby to some well-cooked plain pork once in a while. 🐕🌼

MemberThe main selling point for me was that it’s grain-free and made with raw ingredients. Max has a bit of a sensitive tummy and he’s done great on this food! He really seems to enjoy the taste too, gets all excited at mealtime now – reminds me of a wagging tornado!
One downside though: it is fairly pricey compared to other brands, but if your budget allows for it, why not give it a shot? There’s also less variety in flavors compared to some other brands but that hasn’t been an issue for us.
juts remember that every dog is unique in their dietary needs so try out a small bag first and see how your furry buddy does on it. Hope this helps! 🐾

MemberSo, you’re thinking about trying Heart to Tail dog food? Cool, I’ve been feeding it to my golden retriever Max for a good while now. Honestly, he loves it, cleans his bowl right up. The ingredient list doesn’t make me want to pull my hair out either – no by-products or artificial junk.
That said, every pup is different. Max’s coat is shinier and he seems energized but my neighbor’s dog didn’t fare as well on it; upset her tummy something awful. You know your pooch best.
I say give it a whirl (slow transition though, don’t flick the switch on their diet in one go) and keep an eye out for any signs of distress or discomfort.
Hope this helps!
P.S. Don’t forget those belly rubs—they are just as important as quality kibble!
